We're looking for a Head of IT Infrastructure and Operations to own the Run and Build sides of IT Infrastructure & Operations for a client operating in a highly regulated, financial-services environment. You'll be the single point of escalation for infrastructure and operations, balancing the day-to-day availability and stability of production systems with building out next-generation platforms, whether hosted internally, in the cloud, or through vendor/SaaS models.
This is a hands-on leadership role: you'll oversee cloud and on-premises infrastructure, vendor and technology relationships, budget, and governance, while partnering closely with business leadership to translate business and customer needs into technical strategy.
What You'll Be Doing
- Establish a desktop engineering sub-function to bring working efficiency in the company.
- Establish segregation of duties in the department by enabling Run and Build sub-functions within the IT Infrastructure & Operations.
- Establish processes and procedures for Database engineering functions and take them to the next level of maturity.
- Establish service levels for the I&O area and review with the CIO on a monthly basis.
- Leverage third-party support structure to enhance the client capability swiftly.
- Be the single point of escalation for the overall IT Infrastructure & Operations related activities.
- Oversees and operates the function of systems management for all infrastructure and business systems.
- Provides expertise in the security and management of Azure Cloud and on-prem environments to ensure proper design and management of these environments.
- Supports internal and external audit activities. Keeps documentation and logs of all regulatory-required systems information.
- Monitors performance, uptimes and capacity of all systems, both internal and vendor-hosted/managed via creation and upkeep of automated controls and systems where able.
- Establishes and maintains the Infrastructure Operations portion of the IT operations budget.
- Forecasts and budgets for hardware/software multi-year lifecycle.
- Develops competence within the team to support business applications and work in tandem with outsourced applications support teams to resolve issues quickly.
- Oversees all 3rd-party IT vendor services, contracts, and support relationships.
- Understands client’s technical infrastructure and ecosystem to provide relevant technical assessments and proposals to support the company's strategic goals and business needs.
- Designs and implements infrastructure solutions in collaboration with Software Development team to develop web and database architecture in Microsoft Azure as well as on-premises.
- Outlines pros and cons for technical solutions in order to enable effective and informed business decisions, ensuring the solution integrates well with existing in-house ecosystem and vendor systems.
- Complies with all federal and state rules and regulations that affect this job position and perform the required ongoing training for those regulations as directed by the Chief Risk Officer.
- Partner with third-party FinTech and other vendors to bring the knowledge base to enhance our platform capabilities
- Supervisory: Mentor and coach direct reports within the team to help develop them for future roles and provide proper succession; and manage performance of the team and conduct performance reviews within the processes of the client.
What we are looking for
- 10+ years of relevant and progressive infrastructure engineering and systems management experience using enterprise-level technologies
- 7 years of relevant experience in a financial institution or a regulated environment required
- 7+ years of relevant experience of managing/leading technical projects and assessing technical solutions
- 4+ years of relevant experience in leading operations and direct supervision of staff
- Strong analytical skills with fundamental understanding of the underlying business or customer need
- Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders in order to drive alignment
- Ability to manage change and take active leadership in timely decision-making
- Ability to lead and motivate people and encourage teamwork, promote and exemplifies a culture of excellent customer service Strong Knowledge and experience with the following computer and server hardware and networking technologies:
- Network Operating Systems: Windows 2012, 2016, 2019
- Scripting languages such as PowerShell, batch, Perl, or Python
- Relational Database Systems administration with SQL Server or other relevant enterprise DBMS
- Enterprise-appropriate systems administration principles, practices and methods,
- Enterprise-grade networking components including firewalls, routers, VPN, switches, Layer-3 IP Networking and design
- Experience managing and building an Azure Cloud environment

This is a fully remote position; however, candidates must be based in regions that align with the Pacific, Central, or Eastern U.S. time zones.
